He has multiple states of anger/friendship towards the player, which has an effect on how fast the player is digested and what actions are available once swallowed. Can AV you if very mad. You can influence his behavior towards you by attacking/petting him, although petting doesn't works if he's really mad. In that stage you have to massage his belly. Struggling is also a way to annoy him.
